Merge Dig Simulator Pickaxe Tier List

Pickaxes are the only ladder Merge Dig Simulator publicly advertises. Official art gives us three visual rungs you can plan around even when shop labels shift after a patch: Start / rusty, mid orbit tools (cyan or purple heads in Day 99 shots), and Diamond → Secret.

This list ranks those rungs by how much they change your coins per minute, not by how loud the trail is. Combine it with the merge guide before you protect a “rare” tool that is actually merge food.

S — Secret (rainbow) and any Diamond pair that creates it

Official thumbnail: two Diamond pickaxes plus a plus sign equal a rainbow Secret pickaxe. That is the highest documented merge product. If you own one Diamond, the S-tier play is to buy or mine the second Diamond, not to swing the first as a trophy. Secret is not a separate lobby chest.

A — High named pickaxes you can actually duplicate

Cyan Diamond-style tools, purple glow tools from the Day 99 split, and any shop name that sits one merge below Secret. A-tier means “this is your current job.” Buy twins. Merge. Do not skip a name because a Robux bundle shows a fancier handle.

If the shop shows a tool you cannot double this session, it is not A for you yet. It is a wishlist. Fast progression is ruthless about that.

B — Mid-tier orbit pickaxes

The busy half of the Day 1 / Day 99 art: several tools spinning around the avatar. Mid names exist to increase hit count and to be doubled into A. Keep two of a mid name only if you are one purchase from a merge. A graveyard of mixed mids is B-tier power with D-tier planning.

C — Starter / rusty / “Start” cave pickaxe

Everyone begins here. The Start vs Pro image puts a beat-up brown pickaxe in a dark tunnel on the left. C-tier does not mean trash — it means merge it away. The only mistake is emotional attachment. Two rusties should become the next name as soon as the shop allows.

D — Mismatched one-offs and unmerged Robux extras

A single flashy pickaxe with no twin, bought because the Pro screenshot has gems, sits in D until you can double it. Cosmetics that do not change merge names also sit here. Community scripts that spawn tools are not a tier; they are a ban risk.

Practical buy order

1. Twin of whatever you are holding.
2. Merge.
3. Twin of the new result.
4. Only then a new shop name, with coins reserved for its twin.
5. Never sell or drop a Diamond-level tool.

Coins for that order come from mining and from code rewards. Account multipliers that make the order cheaper are on the upgrade tier list.

Names will drift

Shop strings can change after the May 2026 experience update without a public item Trello. If your HUD says Steel instead of Diamond, keep the 2-to-1 rule and look for the rainbow Secret as the landmark. When Discord or a changelog publishes a full name table, this page will switch from visual rungs to exact labels. Until then, ranking the merge role is more honest than inventing a twelve-row list.
