Getting Started in Merge Dig Simulator
From a rusty starter pickaxe to your first real merge without wasting Release.
Merge Dig Simulator is already live on Roblox. You do not need a pre-register code, a Steam key, or a closed beta slot. You need a Roblox account, a device that can run the experience, and about twenty focused minutes. This page is that first session.
Official title on the platform is Merge & Dig! by the Merge Diggers group. Search that name if the simulator title does not autocomplete. The place ID is 106480700466481 if you want to avoid similarly named merge games.

Minute 0–2: flags before you swing
Open the experience, then immediately:
- Like the Roblox page.
- Join the Merge Diggers group.
- Invite a friend later if you want the listing’s invite gift — do not stall the session waiting for one.
Those clicks are documented on the experience as exclusive in-game rewards. They are faster than any early upgrade. Details live in group and Premium and the Discord / group links.
Minute 2–4: redeem Release
Open Shop → Codes → enter Release → confirm → open Potions. Full taps are on how to redeem codes. Do not activate the Coin Potion yet if you still cannot move or see blocks. Get to a green cube wall first, then pop it. Reward math is on code rewards.
If the code fails, you either already redeemed it on this account, added a space, or you loaded the wrong merge game. Check the codes hub before you restart.
Minute 4–10: mine the starter field
Official thumbnails show a floor of brown tiles and a wall of bright green cubes. Walk up to the cubes and let your pickaxe(s) hit them. Coins are the point. You are not solving a puzzle and you are not defending a base.
On day one you may only have a single rusty pickaxe, matching the “Start” half of the official comparison art. That is expected. Keep swinging until you can afford a second copy of the same tool. Mining technique, AFK notes, and potion timing are expanded in how to mine coins.
Minute 10–15: merge the first pair
Two identical pickaxes combine into the next tier. Official promotional art spells it out: Diamond + Diamond = Secret. Your first merge will be whatever starter name the current build uses — wood, rusty, or basic — but the rule is the same: duplicates are fuel, not a museum.
If you cannot find a merge button, look for drag-together or an auto prompt near your tools. The dedicated merge pickaxes guide covers the 2-to-1 rule, Secret rainbow tools, and why you should not sit on four copies of the same mid-tier pickaxe.
Minute 15–20: spend without griefing yourself
Buy:
- another copy for the next merge, or
- the next pickaxe unlock if the shop has opened it, or
- a mining/merge upgrade ranked high on the upgrade tier list.
Do not buy a cosmetic trail because the Pro screenshot looks shiny. The Pro half of that art is a later pickaxe plus coin and gem piles — you get there by repeating merge, not by shopping the cash shop first.
What “good” looks like after one session
- Release is redeemed.
- Group joined, experience liked.
- At least one successful merge.
- You know where Shop, Codes, and Potions live.
- You have a plan for the next duplicate.
If you also read fast progression you will know whether to stay in the starter cubes or hunt a denser wall. If controls feel wrong on a phone, fix that on the controls page before you blame the drop rate.
What you can ignore on day one
Scripts, Robux bundles, and rumors about pets. The public game is an incremental pickaxe merger. Scripts exist in the community and carry ban risk; they are not part of learning the HUD. Updates can wait until you have merged once. Tools become useful on session two when you already know the menus.
You now have the same information the Roblox description tried to fit into four emoji lines. Play, merge, mine, unlock — in that order — and open the tier list only after the first duplicate is gone.
